Medium: video (documentary)
Duration: 22 minutes
Heart, Keep Beating is a documentary film about Claudia and Alex who grew up in a Romanian orphanage in the 1990’s and were infected with HIV as children.
The film follows Claudia and Alex as they embark into young adulthood, trying to live completely normal lives after a childhood in the shade of one of the largest medical catastrophes in European history when 10.000 orphans were infected with HIV.
The film combines new recordings (2009) with my own archive recordings from Romanian hospitals and orphanages in 1998, connecting past and present via superimposted images.
The film was supported by The European Union (Youth in Action Programme), The Danish Film Institute, and Danish Film Director’s Association, and premiered at the Danish Cinematheque in 2009.
Selected for various festivals, among them the World Art Tendency International Festival Sarajevo, Ljubljana International Short Film Festival and Platforma Video9 International Film Festival Greece.
